Sophie Molineux appointed as captain, Australia women name squads for series against India

Australia have named their T20I, ODI and Test squads to play India. Sophie Molineux has been named as all-format captain but she will have to wait for this series to end as Alyssa Healy will captain Australia in ODIs and Test and this will be her farewell series. Sophie Molineux was appointed as the all format captain and will take over the reigns after this series. The squad has Nicola Carey making her return to the international fold in the white-ball formats after doing well for Mumba in the WPL.

While 19-year-old quick Lucy Hamilton has been named in a national squad for the first time. She could be making her Test debut. Sophie Molineux will captain the side in the T20I series and she has played just 58 matches for Australia since her debut aged

20 in 2018. Due to injuries her career has been stop start. Phoebe Litchfield has been named in all three squads despite being ruled out of the remainder of the Women’s Premier League season with a quad injury.

There will be three matches in the T20I series which will be played on 15th February , 19th February and 21st February.

The ODI series also has three matches with the first ODI scheduled at Allan Border field on February 24. The second and third ODI will be played at Bellerive Oval in Hobart on February 27 and March 1st.
