The d-day is finally here and all ten Indian Premier League (IPL) franchises are set to submit their list of retentions with final announcement expected to be made around 5:00 pm (IST) on Saturday, November
15. Ahead of the retention deadline, several franchises have confirmed a few trade moves with the biggest being Sanju Samson’s making a move to Chennai Super Kings in a swap deal with Ravindra Jadeja and Sam Curran with the Indian veteran all-rounder returning to Rajasthan Royals (RR) after 16 years.
While the all-rounder duo will now been playing for the inaugural IPL winners, Rajasthan Royals, the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have also seen New Zealand batter Devon Conway part ways. This comes just prior to the retention deadline and the IPL 2026 mini-auction, set to be held somewhere between December 13 to 16 in Abu Dhabi.
Devon Conway bids adieu to CSK ahead of IPL 2026 auction
Late on Friday night (November 14), The Kiwi batter took to X to confirm his exit from the Yellow Army. "Thank you to all loyal fans of CSK for amazing 3 years support," Conway wrote on X, confirming his exit after playing for them for three seasons. Notably, the decision follows CSK’s disappointing performance in IPL 2025, where they finished in the last place, registering just four wins in 14 league matches.
Notably, Conway made his debut for CSK in IPL 2023, where he finished with 672 runs in 15 innings at an average of 51.69. He then went on to score just 156 runs in six innings in IPL 2024 and his performance in 2025 saw a sharp dip despite the franchise buying him for INR 6.25 Crore in the mega auction. While he will be looking to come into the auction, but the his exit hints at the exit of a few others after series of dismal performances.
