Following the Asia Cup 2025, the Indian team are all set to take on West Indies in a two-match Test series, which is scheduled to be played in India. The first match is set to take place from 2- 6 October
at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad while the second Test will be played from 10-14 October at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi.
As the Indian cricket team are continuing their unbeaten run in the Asia Cup 2025, the latest one being another dominant victory against Pakistan in the Super Four stage, India will be looking forward to putting up a formidable squad against the West Indies to achieve wins at home. According to recent reports, the Indian Test selectors would be looking forward to bringing in the likes of Devdutt Padikkal and Nitish Kumar Reddy to face the Caribbeans.
Padikkal to be India’s most suitable option at No.3: Reports
Padikkal who has played two Test matches for the Indian cricket team until now, is currently looking in red-hot form after recovering well from the injury he faced and is putting up sensational performances in the domestic leagues. While India are still searching for the best option to play one-down as a replacement for Virat Kohli, Padikkal is the option that suits India the most after Sai Sudarshan and Karun Nair have failed to impress the selectors at the number three spot.
Nitish Kumar Reddy, who was part of India’s squad for England Tests, could not make a mark for the team due to his knee injury. But he seems like a valuable option for the team in the middle order. Reddy is a complete asset to the team considering the qualities he possesses overall in the team. It will be interesting to see if both of these players would make it into the final squad.
