In shocking news from the world of sports, Mary Kom, the Indian boxing legend, had her Faridabad house robbed at Sector 46 in Surajkund, Faridabad earlier this week, as confirmed by the police on Saturday, September 27. The incident at her house happened on the intervening night of September 24 and 25 when the six-time world champion and Olympic medallist was in Meghalaya, attending the 4th Sohra International Half Marathon event.
As per the report published in the Times of India (TOI), the thieves allegedly manage to get inside the house of Mary Kom through a vacant plot nearby after breaking a glass window. It was one of the neighbours of Mary Kom, who spotted a ladder placed in the backyard of the house before alerting her manager, and then,
the information was relayed to the police.

When the police reached the house, it was locked before the manager of Mary Kom made his way to open the door with the key, and it led to the confirmation of the robbery. As per the police, while the full list of items stolen from the house aren’t confirmed yet, the thieves stole gold items, taps, inverter battery apart from other valuable accessories worth lakhs of rupees.
Police begins investigation on matter while waiting for Mary Kom to lodge formal complaint
Yashpal, the sub-inspector of the Sector 46 police from Surajkund, Faridabad, said that the case is yet to be registered in the matter since Mary Kom isn’t around to file a formal complaint due to her presence in Meghalaya for the marathon event. The police also stated that they have started the investigation in the matter wherein the identity of the thieves is being traced with the help of the CCTV footage being reviewed by them.
Moreover, Mary Kom is the winner of Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan, and Padma Shri awards for her incredible accomplishments as a women’s boxer in India, paving the way for the young girls to make a career in the sport.
