Rodrigo Bentancur, 28-year-old Uruguayan international, plays as a midfielder for the defending Europa League champions Tottenham Hotspur. The Uruguayan international joined the club in 2022 from the Serie A giants Juventus and has become an integral player in the midfield for Thomas Frank’s side. He has made more than 120 appearances for the North London club.
Bentancur has entered the final stages of his time at Spurs as his contract is set to expire in 2026. However, considering the creativity and leadership the 28-year-old brings to the team, Tottenham Hotspur have officially extended his contract. Despite the injury concerns, Frank considers him as a crucial part of the project to rebuild Spurs under his guidance and lead them to achieve
the silverware they crave for.
I'm extremely happy that Rodrigo has committed his future to the club: Thomas Frank
Bentancur has been very pleased since the time he joined Spurs and is keen on winning more titles with the team following the Europa League success last season. Following the extension of his contract, Bentancur stated, "I feel really good and I'm very happy to continue my story with this fantastic club." "My family are happy. I have fantastic friends and team-mates who work hard.every day. I love this club and feel really good here. Winning the Europa League was a fantastic moment and we want to build on this now, to win more trophies. We have a new head coach, a new captain and I want to enjoy many more years at the club," he added.
Bentancur has only missed one Premier League game for Spurs since the start of the season and has looked in good shape until now. Reacting to his contract extension, Frank stated, "I'm extremely happy that Rodrigo has committed his future to the club. It shows his belief in what we are building here and that we are starting a journey which we hope will be really special."
