On this day, February 2, 2025: India Women defend their U19 Women’s World Cup Title in Kuala Lumpur. South Africa Under 19 were batting first and it was a splendid effort by the Indian Under 19 bowlers

who bowled really well and kept it tight at the start. The first wicket fell at 11 when opener Lourens was dismissed. South Africa Women Under 19 from 20/1 lost their way to 20/3 in a matter of a few balls. They were in all sorts of trouble as Parunika Sisodia bowled really well with the new ball. Then a small partnership of 20 runs was formed between South African captain Reyneke and van Voorst. Van Voorst looked in sublime touch scoring three boundaries. But again South Africa U19 lost a few wickets in clusters losing Reyneke and Meso as they were reduced to 44/5.

Van Voorst was by far the best batter for South Africa U19 but she was dismissed for 23 runs of 18 balls and then South Africa U19 Women were bowled out for 82. It was a terrific effort from all the Indian U19 bowlers. Aayushi Shukla, Sisodia and Vaishnavi Sharma each of them took two wickets while Trisha scalped three wickets. It was a very good effort from the bowlers at the halfway mark.

In reply, India U19 openers raced off to a quick start and they were 36/1 in just four overs before Kamalini was dismissed for eight runs. Gongadi Trisha kept batting really well and ended up with an unbeaten 44 runs of just 33 balls while Sanika Chalke supported her well scoring an unbeaten 26 runs of 22 balls.

India U19 Women chased down the target quite comfortably within 12 overs and with nine wickets left. It was one of the most dominating performance and by doing so they retained their U19 Women’s World Cup title. Gongadi Trisha was the player of the match for her terrific all-round performance scoring 44 runs and also picking up three wickets. It was a memorable day for the Indian team.
