With the hype around the next edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) already on cards, all ten franchises are looking to get some of the best talents available under their jurisdiction. While the Board
of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) along with the IPL General Council is mulling on the dates and venue for the IPL 2026 mini-auction, the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) have roped in Tom Moody as their Global Director of Cricket.
However, the reports were rife of Moody joining the LSG setup, but the confirmation came on Tuesday, November 4 when the franchise took to social channel to confirm Tom Moody’s appoint. “Experience. Vision. Leadership. Welcome aboard the Super Giants Universe, Tom Moody,” the post was captioned on X.
Tom Moody to begin his stint as Global Director of Cricket with Super Giants
With the Sanjiv Goenka owned RP-Goenka Group securing a team in the 100-ball tournament The Hundred prior to the recent edition and also owning a team in the SA20 with Durban Super Giants, the IPL-winning head coach is likely to bring more experience on the table ahead of the crucial IPL 2026. Furthermore, the former Australian cricketer recently led Oval Incivincles to third straight The Hundred win with his coaching expertise. In the ILT20 2023 and 2025, he helped Desert Vipers finish in second place and will be expected to guide the LSG side to their maiden IPL title in the next edition.
Moreover, his appointment marks his return in the IPL after he left the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in 2022. With the IPL 2026 mini-auction set to be held in mid-December, he will be joined by the likes of Kane Williamson, who was recently appointed the Strategic Advisor, Justin Langer, and others.
