Bangladeshcaptain Litton Das has failed to make it to T20I squad for the upcoming Afghanistan series. The Bangla side will take on the Afghan team for three T20Is to be played between October 2 and 5. The Bangla side’s Asia Cup 2025 campaign ended on September 25, after the 11-run defeat against Pakistan in Dubai. Following the dismal performance in the continental tournament, Bangladesh will be expected to be impactful in the upcoming series to solidify their preparation for the T20 World Cup 2026. However, Litton’s absence due to fitness issues isn’t a good sign for the Bangla team.
In these circumstances, Jaker Alihas got the responsibility to lead the side. However, Jaker hasn’t been great as a skipper in the Asia Cup as he failed to take
Bangladesh to the final. Not just on the leadership front, Jaker struggled as a batter as well. Appearing in six matches, he could score only 71 runs at a strike rate of 107.57. However, Bangla supporters will want the 27-year-old to learn from his previous failures and deliver the desired results to the side in the upcoming series.
Soumya Sarkar included in Bangladesh’s 16-member squad
Soumya Sarkar has got a spot in Bangladesh’s 16-member T20I squad. Sarkar was dropped from the T20I team after his team’s series against the West Indies in the Caribbean islands in December. In the three-match series against the Windies team, the southpaw could score only 54 runs in two innings at an underwhelming strike rate of 108.
Sarkar’s recent T20 performances helped him win a spot in the Bangla team’s upcoming assignment. Appearing for Khulna Division in the National Cricket League T20, Sarkar played the knocks of 63 and 45 against Rajshahi Div and Dhaka Metro respectively.
