During the 28th match of the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup (CWC) 2025, Indian opening batter Pratika Rawal twisted her ankle in a horrible visual at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai. With the ongoing
contest reduced to 27 overs a side due to multiple showers at the venue, the outfield wasn’t completely dry and it seemingly was a key factor in regards to the 25-year-old sustaining an injury.
The shocking turn of events happened in the 21st over of the Bangladesh innings when Pratika Rawal was running to her left to save a boundary while fielding at the deep mid-wicket boundary. After overrunning the ball, her instinct was to decelerate and in that attempt, she lost her balance completely before her body weight fell on the right foot and ankle, which twisted in a gruesome scene.

Moments later, when Pratika Rawal was down on the ground and in agony, her teammates and the Indian physio and staff came to the field to help her up before taking her off the field. Luckily, she was able to put some weight on her right ankle while walking off the field, which could be considered as a good sign in regards to her future in the ongoing ICC Women’s CWC 2025 campaign with the semi-final coming up on Thursday, October 30, against defending champions Australia.
Moreover, after batting for 27 overs, Bangladesh managed to post 119/9 total on the board for the Indian batting lineup and it will be interesting to see if Pratika Rawal comes out to open or bats down the order.
