On Sunday, September 28, Marc Marquez, one of the greatest drivers in motorsport history, won his seventh MotoGP World Championship title after finishing in second place at the Japanese Grand Prix at the Twin Ring Motegi Circuit in Tochigi. The 32-year-old, who had won his previous championship six years ago, had to endure a series of serious injuries and crashes over the past few seasons before reclaiming lost glory in 2025 with the factory Ducati team.
Notably, following the four successive MotoGP World Championship title wins from 2016 to 2019, Spaniard Marc Marquez broke his arm in 2020, which forced him to undergo four operations in two years. It led to him leaving Honda in 2023 after a fruitful 11-year association to join Ducati on their
satellite team and start the new phase of his MotoGP career, where he managed to flourish once more, culminating in yet another title victory.
It's impossible even to speak, I just want to enjoy the moment: Marc Marquez
With his seventh MotoGP World Championship triumph, Marc Marquez has levelled former arch-rival Valentino Rossi from Italy in the list of most titles in the premier class in motorcycle racing. At the Japanese Grand Prix, he finished behind his Italian teammate Francesco Bagnaia, to earn himself an unassailable lead in the MotoGP World Championship 2025 standings with five races still remaining in the season.

While crossing the finish line, Marc Marquez was seen holding his head in his hands and sobbing on the bike before getting congratulated by his younger brother Alex Marquez, his nearest challenger on the satellite Ducati team. In his first reaction after winning the MotoGP World Championship 2025, a tearful Marc Marquez was quoted as saying, as per BBC Sport, “It's impossible even to speak, I just want to enjoy the moment, but it's true that it was difficult, it was super difficult, but now I'm at peace with myself.”
The Spaniard also talked about his tough times from a few years ago, saying, “I did a big mistake in my career, to come back too early [from surgery]. And then I fight, fight, fight - and I won again! So I'm at peace.”
