Marcus Rashford, the England forward, is currently on loan deal with Barcelona, and is looking to stay in Spain after the agreement between the Catalan giants and Manchester United ends next summer. It is understood that as part of the loan deal, Barcelona have the option to sign the 27-year-old permanently next summer for £28m, which is far less than the £40m transfer fee which Manchester United are expected to demand from other clubs for their star player.
Notably, the current contract of Marcus Rashford at Manchester United runs until 2028, but under manager Ruben Amorim, he didn’t play much late last year before being loaned to Aston Villa in the January transfer window for six months. Following that, he is currently on a year-long loan deal
which began during the summer transfer window, and it is highly likely that the Portuguese doesn’t integrate him in the squad upon the completion of the agreement next summer.
When Marcus Rashford was asked by ESPN about whether he wanted to stay in Spain after the loan deal ends next year, he had no hesitation in saying, “For sure.” He also remarked, as stated in the BBC Sport report, “I'm enjoying this football club and I think for anybody who loves football, Barcelona is one of the key clubs in the history of the game. For a player it is an honour.”
Marcus Rashford has scored five goals in 12 matches for Barcelona this season
Since arriving at Barcelona in the summer, the Englishman has scored five goals in 12 matches, including a brace against Olympiakos in the 6-1 home win in the UEFA Champions League (UCL) clash. He is expected to be in the starting XI of the Catalan giants in the El Clasico against arch-rivals Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu on Sunday, November 2, which could end up being his first experience of the highly anticipated clash.
“People forget this, but 23 years of my life was with Manchester United. So sometimes you just need a change. I think maybe this is the case with me and I'm enjoying everything,” Marcus Rashford also remarked about his future in club football.
