Ahead of their World Cup qualifier against Serbia at the Wembley Stadium in London on Thursday, November 13, the likes of Bournemouth midfielder Alex Scott and Crystal Palace captain Marc Guehi have been
left out of the England squad. While Scott didn’t make the final cut in manager Thomas Tuchel’s side for tonight’s clash, Guehi got left out due to his ongoing recovery from a foot injury.
Notably, Tuchel had picked Scott and Guehi in the initial 25-member England squad for the Serbia clash; he was only allowed to finalise the names of 23 players for the World Cup qualifier. With that, the two aforementioned players had to be omitted from the lineup but since England have already qualified for the FIFA World Cup 2026 in the USA, Canada, and Mexico, the upcoming two qualifying matches won’t have lasting consequences on the road to the coveted tournament.
Alex Scott called his maiden England call-up 'dream come true'
It was just a couple of days ago when Alex Scott had stated that it was a “dream come true” for him to get called up for the first-time to the England football team by Thomas Tuchel, hoping to make a lasting difference for them. As far as Marc Guehi is concerned, he will continue to recover from his foot injury sustained recently at Crystal Palace after the club made a good start in the Premier League apart from competing well in other competitions.
Following their battle against Serbia at home in the World Cup qualifier, England will take on Albania at the National Arena in Tirana on Sunday, November 16.
