After winning the first Test, the Indian team also had a dominant run in the ongoing second Test against West Indies at Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. However, after trailing by 270 runs in the first innings, the Windies showed a great fight in the second innings on day three as the visitors are still alive in this Test match. For West Indies, John Campbell and Shai Hope turned out to be the star performers on the third day of the Test match.
Talking about the Test match, India posted a mammoth 518/5d in the first innings on day two with Yashasvi Jaiswaltop scoring with 175(258) runs hitting 22 fours while Shubman Gill played a captain’s knock of 129*(196) runs with 16 fours and two sixes. In reply to India’s total, West Indies lost their four wickets
early as they finished day two on 140/4. Coming to day three, the Windies could only add 104 runs more as they were bowled out for 248 runs with India taking a lead of 270 runs in the first innings.
Kuldeep Yadav registers five-wicket haul on day three
For West Indies, Alick Athanaze was a top scorer in the first innings with 41(84) runs, while Tagenarine Chanderpaul and Shai Hope also contributed with the score 34 and 36 respectively. On the other hand, Kuldeep Yadavb turned out to be a star of day three with a five-wicket haul. The leg-spinner took five wickets by conceding 82 runs as India dominated West Indies in the first innings. Apart from that, Ravindra Jadeja took three wickets while Mohammed Siraj and Jasprit Bumrah scalped a wicket each.
Coming to bat in the second innings after the follow-on, West Indies lost two wickets at the score of 35 runs. After that, John Campbell and Shai Hope didn’t let any wicket as the duo added 138 runs by the end of the day. Campbell was unbeaten on 87*(145) runs hitting nine fours and two wickets, while Hope scored 66*(103) runs with eight fours and two sixes as West Indies finished the day on 173 runs for the loss of two wickets. The visitors are still 97 runs behind with eight wickets in hand.
