On Monday, October 27, Juventus confirmed the sacking of manager Igor Tudor after they failed to win any of their last eight matches in all competitions, losing three and drawing five of these. The three aforementioned
defeats came just over the span of a week for the Italian giants, including the away loss to Lazio by 1-0 in Serie A on Sunday, which proved to be the last straw for the club hierarchy.
Notably, Igor Tudor, who is a Croatian, had joined Juventus as manager after replacing Thiago Motta in March and his tenure was marred by a few ups and a lot of downs. Before his sudden departure, Juventus found themselves in eighth spot in Serie A after winning three, losing three, and drawing two out of eight matches, finding themselves six points behind Napoli and Roma in top two places on the standings.
The club thanks Igor Tudor and his entire staff for their professionalism and dedication: Juventus
In their official statement, Juventus wrote, “The club thanks Igor Tudor and his entire staff for their professionalism and dedication over the past few months and wishes them all the best for their future careers.” They also confirmed that Massimo Brambilla will be the interim manager of their first team and his first match in charge will happen against Udinese at home in the Serie A on Wednesday, October 29.
Apart from finding themselves well behind in the Serie A title race, Juventus have also struggled in the ongoing league stage of the UEFA Champions League (UCL). They have failed to win any of their three matches in the 36-team continental competition, drawing two and losing one to find themselves in 25th place in the standings, sandwiched between Union Saint-Gilloise and Bodo/Glimt.
