The incident took place on the third ball of the third over when Fakhar Zaman edges a delivery off Hardik Pandya and Sanju Samson collected it behind the stumps. Seeing his wicket, he went to the third umpire, who announced him out, bringing up a new controversy.

Seeing several former players come out to share their opinions on the controversial dismissal, former cricketer Shahid Afridi also lambasted at the third umpire. Speaking on Samaa TV, Shahid Afridi dropped a grin and quipped, “Unhone IPL mein bhi toh umpiring karni hai (He has to umpire in the IPL too).” While his comments suggested bias towards India, it drew laughter in the studio.

Not only this, Md Yousuf also backed Afridi, stressing that Fakhar Zaman’s wicket came just as at the moment when he seemed to have begun dominating India. “They didn’t even check many angles. Fakhar had hit three fours and handled Bumrah with ease in the first over. His wicket was crucial for India,” Yousuf said.
