With the IPL 2026 mini-auction just round the corner, there have been talks of several players' trade. Among them in Indian all-rounder Washington Sundar, who has been speculated to make a move to five-time
champions, Chennai Super Kings. It is to be noted that Washington Sundar is currently with the 2022 champions, Gujarat Titans (GT), where he has played only six matches and scored 133 runs and picked two wickets.
But the latest reports have added that Washington Sundar will not be going to CSK or be released from his incumbent Gujarat Titans side. Earlier, a few reports claimed that CSK was looking to rope in Sundar after former Indian cricketer and spin wizard Ravichandran Ashwin announced retirement from the cash-rich league in August this year.
Ashish Nehra denies Washington Sundar trade rumours: Report
If reports are to be believed, Gujarat Titans' long-time coach and former India fast bowler Ashish Nehra have denied the rumours of Washington Sundar's departure from the team. The GT management had already made it clear long ago that they have no intention to part ways with a player they have heavily invested in. Notably, GT shelled out INR 3.20 Crore to acquire Sundar in the IPL 2025 mega auction.
The all-rounder, a regular across formats for India, has been part of the IPL since 2017. Although his playing time was limited last season due to GT’s team balance, the 2022 champions continue to hold Washington in high regard. The above told, the Gujarat Titans continue to be a strong IPL outfit and despite still being relatively new to the incredibly popular Indian Premier League, continue to command legions of fans in the league with players like Sai Sudharsan, Rahul Tewatia, Jayant Yadav and Ishant Sharma in the side.
