The match number six of the Men’s Asia Cup 2025, which was played between India and Pakistan, was more than just a game of cricket. Coming on the back of wins in their opening matches respectively, India registered a convincing seven-wicket win over Pakistan on Sunday, September 14 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium in Dubai.
While the game of cricket might have seen some blistering play in the middle, but what caught the attention was the handshake snub, silent boycott from the Indian team. However, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) have remained silent on this thus far, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has on the other hand lodged a complaint.
PCB demands removal of match referee Andy Pycroft after IND vs PAK
A statement from PCB stated that the Men in Green have lodged a protest against
the Indian team’s behaviour, a recent report has further added that they are voicing on the removal of match referee Andy Pycroft. "The PCB has lodged a complaint with the ICC regarding violations by the Match Referee of the ICC Code of Conduct and the MCC Laws pertaining to the Spirit of Cricket. The PCB has demanded an immediate removal of the Match Referee from the Asia Cup," Mohsin Naqvi wrote on X.
As per Cricbuzz, Andy Pycroft reached out to Salman Agha at toss, requesting him to not shake hands with Suryakumar Yadav with PCB being miffed with the match official’s approach. Several sources have also added that PCB has taken the protest to another level, threatening a boycott of its next game against UAE, set to be played September 17.
