Saudi Arabia is all set to create history as the middle-east nation is planning to build its first sky stadium before the 2034 FIFA World Cup. The proposed stadium will be 350 metres above the ground in the futuristic NEOM city. The stadium will be one of key venues of the distinguished tournament and it will also accommodate upto 46000 spectators. As per reports from a sports media site Transfer News Live, construction is scheduled to kick off in 2027 and is expected to be concluded by 2032.
In December 2024, Saudi Arabia secured the FIFAWorld Cup 2034 hosting rights through an uncontested process in which the Kingdom was the sole bidder. Saudi Arabia is the second middle-eastern country to host the FIFA World Cup after Qatar in 2022. Saudi Arabia is looking
to make the 2034 event a grand one and the ‘Sky Stadium’ project shows the Kingdom’s passion for sport and tourism.
Saudi Arabia to spend $1 billion to build the stadium
As per reports, Saudi is looking to spend around $1 billion to build the world-class stadium. Besides the sky stadium, Saudi Arabia is committed to creating world-class football infrastructure alongside 15 other stadiums for the event. Saudi Arabia’s latest project which includes the sky stadium emphasises the country’s growing influence in global sports.
Saudi Arabia will take over the hosting rights from the 2030 World Cup, which will be jointly staged by Spain, Portugal, and Morocco. The 2030 World Cup edition will be the first time when Europe and Africa will collaborate with each other to host the grand football event. To celebrate the centenary of the tournament, three matches in 2030 will also be played in South American nations Argentina, Uruguay, and Paraguay
