With the Indian cricket team lifting their record ninth Asia Cup title recently, the action will now shift towards the home Test series against West Indies, followed by white-ball tour of Australia, which commences from October 19. While the Australia tour will consist of three ODIs and five T20Is, the fans will be eager to see stalwarts, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli return to competitive action.
It is to be noted that the senior duo retired from the shortest format in 2024 after Team India’s T20 World Cup win in Barbados. Later on, in May 2025, the duo announced sudden retirement from Test cricket, putting an end to their illustrious 14-year-long career. With the duo now only active in ODIs, they are highly-likely to return in the three-match
series later this month.
Virat Kohli & Rohit Sharma to make a comeback in Australia ODIs in October 2025
However, Virat and Rohit were initially scheduled to return for the white-ball series against Bangladesh in August, but a series postponement, delayed their return. But as Australia is set to host India for a white-ball series, the duo are highly-likely to make a comeback on October 19 in Perth.
India's likely ODI squad for Australia tour:
Rohit Sharma (Captain), Shubman Gill (Vice-captain), Abhishek Sharma, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, KL Rahul, Sanju Samson, Kuldeep Yadav, Varun Chakaravarthy, Arshdeep Singh, Harshit Rana, Mohammed Shami
