Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) President and the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi has been amidst news after his antics at the recently-concluded Men’s Asia Cup 2025 in UAE. The ACC Chairman was surrounded by controversy after he reportedly ran away with the Asia Cup trophy after Team India’s refusal to accept it from him.
While the decision of the Indian team was communicated prior to the presentation ceremony, the ACC Chair reject the appeal and offered to present it with his own hands, denying India of the trophy. As a result, Naqvi went against the protocol and walked away with the trophy, reportedly taking the trophy as well as the winners’ medals to his hotel room.

of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), who have urged to lodge a protest in the International Cricket Council (ICC) meeting, scheduled for next month. But Naqvi’s trophy act have earned him praise in his country and as a result of the same, he is set to get a special honour.
As per various reports, Naqvi is all set to be awarded with the Shaheed Zulfiqur Ali Bhutto Excellence Gold Medal in Karachi. Notably, the award is being awarded to him for his “firm and principled stance” against India over demands during the continental tournament. As per reports citing The Nation, Karachi Basketball Association President, Advocate Ghulam Abbas Jamal has announced the prize for Naqvi.
Jamal highlighted that Naqvi’s actions had “restores national pride” amid the tensed relations between India and Pakistan. If the reports are to be believed, Naqvi will be honoured in a grand ceremony in Karachi where PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari is expected to be the chief guest.
