On Friday, November 7, Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim was confirmed as the winner of the coveted Premier League manager of the month award for October month. It is the first-time in his year-long
stint at Manchester United that the Portuguese was able to win the prestigious award on the back of stellar performances on the pitch from his players in the Premier League, which included three wins.
Notably, the month of October began on a good note for Manchester United, getting the better of Sunderland by 2-0 at Old Trafford in the debut match for goalkeeper Senne Lammens, their first clean sheet of the 2025-26 season. After that, the Red Devils registered a massive 2-1 win over arch-rivals Liverpool at Anfield, their first at this iconic venue since 2016 and following that, a 4-2 win over Brighton ended the month on a high.
These three results and the 2-2 draw away at the City Ground against Nottingham Forest at the start of November have put Manchester United on an upward trajectory following the tough start to the season in all competitions. The club had suffered a huge loss against League Two side Grimsby Town in August in the League Cup on penalties, which had put a lot of pressure on Ruben Amorim in the managerial role.
The credit is not mine, the credit is for my players: Ruben Amorim
In his comments after being given the Premier League manager of the month award, the 40-year-old remarked, as per BBC Sport, “The credit is not mine, the credit is for my players. They did really well, and our goal is to win the next one [award], because it means we win football matches and that is our goal.” Apart from him, Bryan Mbeumo, who was one of the biggest summer signings at the club, was given the Premier League player of the month award for his three goals and one assist in the three straight victories in October.
A Manchester United manager last earned the Premier League manager of the month award in November, 2023, when Erik ten Hag, the predecessor of Ruben Amorim, got it in the midst of a good season at the club.
