In a candid interview released by BCCI after the match completed Ishan Kishan and Suryakumar Yadav were seen sharing their thoughts. India won the second T20I against New Zealand chasing a target of 210 and the architect of the chase was Ishan Kishan and Suryakumar Yadav. In this video, Suryakumar Yadav starts off by telling that chasing a target of 210 and with the team 6/2 he has never seen anyone play such a special knock. He asked Ishan Kishan on how he did for which Ishan answered that he was watching the ball well felt really good and felt that even of good balls they would not be able to dismiss him.

When Ishan Kishan asked him about the lean patch and how he overcame it, Suryakumar Yadav revealed that a timely piece of advice from his wife played a crucial role in his return to form. “Sometimes what happens. When we go home, we have a coach sitting at my home too. The one you are married to. She keeps asking me to take some time. She has seen me from the closest, so she knows my mind too,” Suryakumar said.

Suryakumar Yadav said that he took her advice and took some balls initially to get set. Talking about his innings he said “ I did that in the last match and this match too. I have been telling people that I have been batting nicely in the nets. But until you score in the matches, you don’t feel that confidence. I got some good 2–3 days of rest, went home, cut myself completely from social media. I practiced well in the last three weeks, so I got myself in the perfect mindset.” He added Ishan Kishan walked in when India was in trouble and it was a terrific onslaught as he smashed 76 runs of just 32 balls which included eleven fours and four sixes. Suryakumar Yadav also scored his first half century in over two years as he looked in sublime touch. He remained unbeaten on 82 as India chased down the target quite comfortably. India are leading the series 2-0.
