The Indian cricket team have begun their jam-packed cricketing scheduled. While the side recently lifted the Men’s Asia Cup 2025 title, they are currently hosting West Indies in a two-match Test series.
Although, the Shubman Gill-led Indian side are placed 1-0 up in the series after having won the opening Test in Ahmedabad by an inning and 140-run margin, they are scheduled to take on West Indies in the second Test, set to be played from October 10 to 14 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.
While the Men in Blue will be confident entering the second Test after an all-round performance and getting three wins from six Test matches so far in the World Test Championship (WTC) 2025-27 cycle, they will hope to continue this momentum. But days ahead of the second Test in Delhi, reports have dropped a major hint on what the pitch would have on offer.
Batting pitch likely in IND vs WI second Test in Delhi
According to a report by ESPNcricinfo, the pitch in Delhi will be made using black soil and is expected to favour batters for majority of the match. While the pitch will wear out as the Test match progresses, spinners are likely to come into play later in the game. The decision most likely comes seeing West Indies dismal performance in the first Test in Ahmedabad.
Speaking of the first Test, West Indies skipper Roston Chase won the toss and elected to bat first. The visiting side had a disappointing outing with the bat as they were bundled out at the score of 162 in just 44.1 overs, courtesy a four-wicket haul for Mohammed Siraj and a three-fer for Bumrah. In reply, India posted 448 runs, taking a lead of 286 runs, courtesy centuries from KL Rahul, Dhruv Jurel and Ravindra Jadeja.
After a declaration early ahead of third day’s play, West Indies once again took the guards in the middle, but once again failed, getting decimated at 146. While Ravindra Jadeja wa skey this time, picking four wickets, Siraj scalped three whereas Kuldeep Yadav and Washington Sundar also chipped in with two and one each respectively.
