One of the most loyally followed teams in the IPL, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) have a massive fanbase in the world. Recently, RCB etched their name in the history books as they won their first IPL trophy
in 2025 since the start of the tournament in 2008. Rajat Patidar's side stood strong against all opponents and paved their way into becoming the champions, sparking a night full of joy and happiness earlier this year, and it will never be forgotten by the RCB fans.
However, a social media post made by ex-IPL Chairman Lalit Modi is now going viral about RCB, creating chaos amongst the supporters wanting to know the matter in detail. The post suggests that the current owners of RCB are looking to change the ownership of one of the most valuable franchises in the IPL. Earlier, multiple reports had suggested that RCB owners Diageo Plc have decided on selling the franchise and to move on from it.
Good luck to whoever secures it: Lalit Modi on RCB getting sold
The statement posted by Lalit Modi along with the logo of RCB read on his official X account, “There have been a lot of rumours about the sale of an @iplt20 franchise, specifically @royalchallengers.bengaluru. In the past, offers were denied, but it seems the owners have finally decided to take it off their balance sheet and sell it. Having won the IPL last season, with a strong fan base, an excellent team and a great management structure, it could be the only franchise available as a whole.”
The Ex-IPL chairman further added on RCB’s global value by saying, “I am sure one of the big global funds or a sovereign fund would be eager to include them in their investment strategy. There can be no better investment opportunity than this. Good luck to whoever secures it. It will definitely set a new record valuation and reinforce that the IPL is not only the fastest-growing global sporting league, but also the most valuable. The new price set by #RCB will become the floor price for all teams.”
These are massive turn of events in the world of IPL cricket, and in the long run, it could impact the league massively, especially if RCB indeed gets sold to the new owners.
