Ahead of Manchester United’s Premier League clash against Arsenal on Sunday, new Head Coach Michael Carrick outlined his winning philosophy, player development focus, excitement for positive football, and the balanced coaching staff blending fresh dynamics, vast experience, and youth pathways.
Man United Head Coach Michael Carrick outlined his approach:
“We want to win games, different ways in different scenarios, but it’s about working with players, helping them improve individually to lift the team. We’re all in it together, looking after each other. Results matter, but I want exciting, positive football that keeps fans on the edge of their seats.”
On his coaching staff’s key roles:
“Getting that balance was probably the most important thing.
I know the club well, though it’s changed since I left, which brings freshness. The staff offers different dynamics, characters, and experiences. Steve Holland has massive Chelsea experience, navigating manager transitions and staying successful. Jonathan’s loyal, knowledgeable, challenges me perfectly; he's the ideal balance and has pushed me for three years. Travis Binnion's vital for youth development, academy pathways, and pushing young players; this club’s about producing talent. Jonny Evans is someone I respect deeply; he embodies the club, understands the daily grind, and passes on huge experience. It's a real mix of personalities, knowledge, and expertise. I'm delighted as we tackle this big job.”
