The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 is reportedly set to be played from February 7 to March 8 across eight venues in India and Sri Lanka with the former slated to defend their title. It is understood that
the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad is slated to get the tournament opener apart from the final if Pakistan cricket team doesn’t qualify or else, the summit clash will take place at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.
As per the exclusive report in Indian Express, the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai will be hosting one of the semi-finals of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 while the other one is going to take place in Colombo and in case India are drawn against Pakistan then the latter will be the venue for it. The five cities in India likely to welcome teams for the tournament are Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, and Chennai while the venues in Sri Lanka will be Colombo, Pallekele, and Dambulla or Hambantota.
Bengaluru could get warm-up matches of ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026
The warm-up matches for the T20 World Cup next year could happen at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru but it isn’t a certainty due to lack of security clearance after the Indian Premier League (IPL) title celebrations of Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) outside the venue turned into a brutal stampede. With fewer cities in India expected to host the tournament, which the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) officials decided upon, each one of those could get six matches at least.
It is important to remember that the International Cricket Council (ICC) negotiated a deal between the BCCI and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) recently about not being required to play ICC tournament matches at each other’s venues for a foreseeable future. This is why the Pakistan cricket team will be competing in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 with none of their matches going to take place in India, leaving them with only venues in Sri Lanka to play.
The official information about the tournament is expected to come in a few days and it will also have details about groups dividing the 20 teams set to compete in it.
