Opening batter Phil Salt showed great touch with the bat again as England defeated Ireland by four wickets in the first T20I of a three-match series at Malahide Cricket Club Ground in Dublin on Wednesday, September 17. Salt recently shattered several records when he smashed 141*(60) runs against South Africa last week. With the help of his knock, England went on to score 304 runs in their 20 overs.
Now, Phil Salt went on to play another match-winning knock as England took a lead of 1-0 in the T20I series against Ireland. Talking about the match, coming to bat first after losing the toss, Ireland posted 196 runs for the loss of three wickets in their 20 overs. Skipper Paul Stirling and Ross Adair put up an opening partnership of 57 runs in 7.2
overs. Stirling got out after scoring 34(22) runs hitting one four and four sixes. After that, Herry Tector and Lorcan Tucker took charge of the innings and added 123 runs for the third wicket.

Herry Tector was top scorer for England with an unbeaten 61* runs off 36 balls hitting six fours and two sixes. On the other hand Lorcan Tucker got out after scoring 55 runs off 36 balls hitting three fours and four sixes. For England, Adil Rashid, Liam Dawson, and Jamie Overton scalped a wicket each.
Chasing the winning target, England got a great start as Phil Salt and Jos Buttler added 74 runs for the first wicket in 4.4 overs. Buttler got out after scoring 28(10) runs while skipper Jacob Bethell also contributed with 24 runs off 16 balls. On the other hand, Salt top scored with 89 runs off 46 balls as England chased the winning target in 17.4 overs losing six wickets. The opening batter smashed 10 fours and four sixes during his knock.
