Rohit Sharma departs cheaply again, fails in all 3 ODIs vs New Zealand, Misses record

Rohit Sharma had a few starts coming into the third ODI but he has missed out once again. In the third match, Rohit Sharma was dismissed for 11 runs of 13 balls. It was an unusual innings from him as he already

got a reprieve early on in the innings but still could not capitalize after that. He did play a few good shots but soon lost his wicket to Zak Foulkes. He tried to hit it over the top but ended up giving a catch to Clarke.

Rohit Sharma was dismissed for 26 in the first ODI, but he smashed two sixes in his innings. By hitting two sixes in the opening game Rohit Sharma became the batsman with the most sixes as an opener in ODIs. But in the next two matches he could not score a single six. Had Rohit Sharma hit three sixes in the third match, he would have hold the record for hitting the most sixes against SENA teams in international matches. By doing so, he will become the only batsman in the world to do so but he missed out on this record as he could not score any six in today’s fixture.

Rohit Sharma also was 17 runs short of reaching 16,000 runs as an opener ahead of this game and he could score only 11 so he is still 6 runs away and will he aiming to get past that milestone in the next game. Apart from all this, Rohit also completed 6000 ODI runs as an opener in Asia in the series. Rohit Sharma also needs one more century to hold the record of scoring the most centuries as an Indian opener.

Another record missed today was, Rohit needed only two more sixes to hit the most sixes against New Zealand in the ODI format. Rohit has hit 49 sixes against New Zealand in ODIs so far. Shahid Afridi holds the world record for most sixes against New Zealand in ODIs. Afridi has hit 50 sixes against New Zealand in this format. So overall Rohit had a poor series and could not cross 30 runs in either of the three matches.
