After winning the three-match ODI series by 2-1 margin last week against India, the Australian cricket team is gearing for the T20I series, which is set to commence from October 29 in Canberra. Notably,
the two teams will lock horns in five-match T20I series until November 8, played across five different venues in Australia.
But just days prior to the series opener, the team from Down Under have been handed a massive blow as they will be without star spinner Adam Zampa. However, exact reason behind Zampa’s withdrawal is not known, but it comes due to personal reasons related to his wife’s pregnancy. Notably, Zampa also missed the ODI opener as a precautionary measure as he is expecting his second child.
Tanveer Sangha to join Australia’s T20I squad in Canberra
With Zampa out of the series opener, Cricket Australia have called in Tanveer Sangha as his replacement. The New South Wales leg-spinner will join the side ahead of the opening match at the Manuka Oval. Notably, Sangha last appeared in a T20I in 2023, where he picked up ten wickets in seven matches at an average of 24.90.
He recently was part of the Australia A squad that toured India, where he picked seven wickets in three List A matches in Kanpur. The addition of Tanveer comes just days after Glenn Maxwell was added in the squad for the final three T20Is of the upcoming series. Moreover, CA also added Ben Dwarshuis and Josh Phillipe, along with Mahli Beardman.
