Crystal Palace reportedly believe that Liverpool may be the only club to attempt to buy their defender Marc Guehi in the upcoming January transfer window. It is understood that while many of the big clubs
in Europe in particular are interested in signing the 25-year-old English player, they are looking to bring him as a free agent when his current contract with Crystal Palace expires next summer.
Notably, Liverpool were all but certain to buy Marc Guehi on the transfer deadline day this past summer on a £35m deal but it collapsed due to Crystal Palace chairman Steve Parish pulling in the plug at the last second. Guehi had a medical done with the Merseyside club in London before getting ready to board a flight to sign on the dotted line until Crystal Palace decided against it due to not signing a suitable replacement for him.
Liverpool aren't confirmed to sign Marc Guehi either in January or in summer: Report
As per the reports at the time, club manager Oliver Glasner had threatened to resign with immediate effect if Marc Guehi were to join Liverpool without being replaced properly. Moreover, as per Sky Sports report, it is not clear whether Liverpool will exercise the option to try and buy the star player in the January transfer window or wait like other European clubs to lure him once his Crystal Palace contract is done next June.
This is specially when Glasner confirmed that Guehi will not sign a new contract with the club next summer amidst interest from Bayern Munich, Real Madrid and Barcelona apart from Liverpool themselves. The English player will be able to sign a pre-contract agreement with foreign clubs in January to join them for next season when his current contract with Crystal Palace comes down to its final six months.
Moreover, Marc Guehi is currently pushing to return to action after suffering a foot injury earlier this November during a UEFA Conference League clash against AZ Alkmaar, which they won 3-1 at Selhurst Park.
