Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes is signed on a contract until June 2027, but he could end up moving away from the Red Devils next summer after not being able to play at his best in the new central
midfielder role under manager Ruben Amorim this season. There was heavy interest in the 31-year-old Portuguese from three different Saudi Pro League clubs in the recently concluded summer transfer window, but he decided to continue playing at Manchester United with the FIFA World Cup on the horizon next year.
Notably, during his 298 appearances for Manchester United in all competitions after joining them in January 2020, Bruno Fernandes has scored 100 goals and provided 86 assists, to become arguably their most consistent player at the club since his arrival. But despite his quality in the No. 10 role, Ruben Amorim has been using him to play the holding role in midfield, which hasn’t allowed him to dictate terms in the attacking front quite as well as previous seasons.
With that, there are a lot of rumours surrounding Bruno Fernandes departing from Manchester United next summer while snubbing the Saudi Pro League clubs once again, as per Simon Stone of BBC Sport. The journalist was quoted as saying on the matter, “I have been told skipper Bruno Fernandes has no interest in moving to the Saudi Pro-League at the end of the season. In an ideal world for Fernandes, United would qualify for the Champions League next term and he would stay where he is. However, if he does move, it will be to a major European league.”
Bayern Munich could sign Bruno Fernandes from Manchester United for £40m next summer
Amid that, Bruno Fernandes has been linked with Bayern Munich in recent weeks, and a report from TeamTalk suggests that the move is more likely than the one in Saudi Arabia. Reporter Dean Jones was quoted as saying, “It now seems pretty clear that Bruno does not have much interest in a Saudi transfer, so let’s see if anything else opens up for him. Man Utd know that this is not going to be a case of selling him for mega money.”
“Realistically, there seems to be a feeling that his value next summer would be somewhere around £40m based on his status right now,” he added.
