Manuel Akanji, 30-year-old Swiss international footballer plays as a centre-back for the Italian club Inter Milan. He is currently playing for the Serie A club on a loan spell from Manchester City. Akanji joined
City in the year 2022 and had been an integral part in Pep Guardiola’s defense line alongside John Stones and Ruben Dias.
However, Man City loaned out the Swiss international to Inter Milan in order to find more game time as City completed the signings of the Uzbekistan international Abdukodir Khusanov and Vitor Reis. Akanji has impressed the Inter Milan fans with his performances since joining the team and has been a rock in the back for Cristian Chivu’s side. The 30-year-old’s strong presence in the team has forced Inter Milan to extend his stay at the club and the Italian club are now keen to offer him a permanent deal despite the buy-obligation clause.
Inter planning to trigger €15m clause to permanently sign Akanji from City in the winter transfer window: Reports
According to latest developments, Inter are planning on triggering a €15m move for Akanji despite having the buy-obligation clause. However, it depends on various criterias like Akanji managing to continue his rampant form and being physically fit to produce consistent performances for the team.
The Turkish club Galatasaray were keen on signing Akanji this summer. However, it was Inter who hijacked the move and reached an agreement with Man City for a loan deal. In this deal there was a buy-clause included which would become compulsory if the defender played at least 50% of the games for Inter and if they were crowned the Champions of Italy. However, with the latest news, it will be interesting to see if Inter trigger the €15m clause for Akanji next season.
