On Sunday, September 14, Chicago Bears registered a lopsided defeat against Detriot Lions by 21-52 margin at the Ford Field in Detroit. The loss came under their new coach Ben Johnson, leaving the side sit 0-2 in 2025 NFL season. However, the loss might be a tough one for the Bears, but the side also lost their star cornerback Jaylon Johnson with an injury.
The 26-year-old CB notably exited the game in the second quarter after sustaining a groin injury while breaking up a pass. The injury just proves to be a re-aggravation of his previous one which saw him miss the training camp, the pre-season as well as Chicago’s opener.
Jaylon Johnson likely to be be out for rest of NFL 2025 season
However, several sources have stated that the star CB in “indefinitely out”, as per renowned NFL insider Jordan Schultz, “Bears
All-Pro CB Jaylon Johnson is likely to miss the rest of the regular season with a groin injury that will require surgery.” However, he also added that remains a little chance that he could return later, stating, “I’m told there is an outside chance he could return late if Chicago is in contention, but for now it’s a devastating loss for the Bears’ defense.”
Another key source in NFL, ESPN’s Adam Schefter informed, “Bears Pro-Bowl cornerback Jaylon Johnson is out indefinitely with a groin injury. The team is still evaluating the full extent of the injury, whether is necessary, and how long Johnson will be sidelined.”
This comes at a stage where the Bears will next face Dallas Cowboys and star wideouts CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens in Week 3. Notably, Johnson, who is a two-time Pro Bowler, has registered seven interceptions, 49 passes defended, four forced fumbles and one fumble recovery in 71 career games. Moreover, Johnson’s injury just adds to the list of problems for the Bears with linebacker TJ Edwards already missing Week 1 and 2.
