In the final of the Asia Cup 2025 on Sunday, September 28, the Indian cricket team defeated Pakistan by five wickets in a last over thriller to clinch the coveted title for the ninth time at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. After the conclusion of the Asia Cup 2025 final, when the Pakistan journalist asked a controversial question to the Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav during a press conference, the latter had a savage response, talking about whether he is feeling angry about it.
Notably, during the course of the Asia Cup 2025, the Indian cricket team didn’t acknowledge their Pakistani counterparts in their three meetings in Dubai under the leadership of Suryakumar Yadav due to the sour relationship on the political front between the two
countries. The Indian players and support staff decided against shaking hands with the Pakistanis, and there were many heated moments between both sets of players in the field when the tournament was played in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
The Indian cricket team refused to collect the Asia Cup trophy and winner’s medals from the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and Asian Cricket Council (ACC) Chief Mohsin Naqvi, who is also the Interior Minister of Pakistan.

During the press conference, the Pakistan journalist asked a lengthy question to Suryakumar Yadav, which read, “Sawal ye hai ki aaj aap champion bane, achi game kheli aapne. Lekin sawal ye hai ki aapne is poorey tournament mai aapka behaviour raha Pakistan team ke saath, aapne handshake nahi kiya (The question is that today you are champions, you played a great game. But the question is, throughout this tournament your behavior towards the Pakistan team, you didn’t do handshakes).”

“Phir trophy ke liye aapne photo-session nahi kiya, phir aapne siyasi press conference ki. Aap pehle captain hain jinhone cricket ke andar siyasat lekar aaye (You didn’t take part in the photo session with the trophy, then you held a political press conference. Do you think that in the history of cricket you are the first captain who has brought politics into the game of cricket?)” asked the reporter to the Indian captain in the presence of Abhishek Sharma.
After giving a stern look to the Pakistan journalist when he asked the question, Suryakumar Kumar wondered for a few seconds before replying, “Gussa ho rahe ho aap! Sawal pata he nahi chala aapka. Aapne chaar questions puch liye. (You are getting angry. I didn’t get what the question was. You asked four questions).” Moreover, now that the battle on the cricket field is done between India and Pakistan, it will be very interesting to see what’s next as far as their political relationship is concerned.
