On Sunday, September 28, the Indian cricket team defeated arch-rivals Pakistan once again in the Asia Cup 2025, but this time in the summit clash at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium in Dubai. Coming into the finale unbeaten, the T20 World Champions continued their dominating run in the shortest format and clinched the title, beating Pakistan by five wickets.
While the victory was first for Suryakumar Yadav at the helm, it was all the more important amid the loud noise following the Pahalgam terror attacks and India’s response with Operation Sindoor. Although, this time also, the match between India and Pakistan was marred with controversies with the Indian skipper denying a photoshoot as well as snubbing handshakes.

Moreover, despite informing
the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) of not accepting the trophy from Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and ACC President Mohsin Naqvi, who also owns a post in the Pakistan ministry, they were simply denied the trophy. If several reports are to be believed, the ACC Chairman took away the trophy and winners’ medal with him to the hotel room, which was also later confirmed by the BCCI Secretary.
Amidst the trophy snub, the Indian team still had a celebration to remember. Taking the centre stage after the dignitaries left the field, skipper Suryakumar Yadav was spotted emulating Rohit Sharma’s iconic celebration, which he brought in after lifting the T20 World Cup 2024 trophy in Barbados. However, SKY was without the trophy, but simply brought in the zeal with which the team won the title.

Notably, the iconic celebration was first done by Ric Flair, followed by Lionel Messi, who did the same move after Argentina’s 2022 FIFA World Cup win.
