In pursuit of the big target of 203 runs in the Asia Cup 2025 Super 4 clash, Sri Lanka are currently dominating India with the bat, thanks to Pathum Nissanka and Kusal Perera going past their fifties in just
25 balls respectively. After Kusal Mendis lost his wicket to Hardik Pandya in the first over of the Sri Lankan innings, Nissanka and Perera have managed to put on a show in the middle at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
After taking down Indian pace bowlers Arshdeep Singh and Harshit Rana in the powerplay stage, Pathum Nissanka and Kusal Perera kept the momentum going against the spin trio of Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, and Varun Chakravarthy. Matching each other shot for shot, Nissanka and Perera have put India in a tough spot in their defence of the 202/5 total put on the board earlier in the evening in front of a noisy atmosphere in the stadium in Dubai.
As of this writing, Sri Lanka have reached 114/1 in just 10 overs, needing only 89 runs in the second phase of the innings to dent India’s confidence ahead of the Asia Cup 2025 final against Pakistan at the same ground in two days time. Pathum Nissanka is on 61* off 32 while Kusal Perera has reached 52* off 27 in their partnership in excess of 100 runs.
