Cole Palmer, 23-year-old English international, has been one of Chelsea’s most valuable players for the last couple of years. Joining the club from rivals Manchester City, Cole Palmer is now one of Chelsea’s own
superstars. The attacking midfielder was the leading goal-scorer for Chelsea in the previous season, scoring 18 goals and providing 14 assists across all competitions.
However, Chelsea will be facing a huge blow to the team as their No.10, Cole Palmer has been suffering from a groin injury for some time now due to which their manager Enzo Maresca has been forced to leave him out of the squad for three weeks. Palmer will not be seen in action until the end of the international break in order to get him fully fit for the remainder of the campaign. Speaking about the absence of Palmer, Maresca said, as per BBC Sport, "Yes, we decided to protect a little bit Cole, in terms of not letting his injury get worse."
We have decided to be a little bit conservative with him: Enzo Maresca
Enzo Maresca talked further about Cole Palmer's fitness issues, and his remarks read, "We decided to rest him for two to three weeks until the international break to see if with that rest he can recover 100% and to be fit after the international break.I don't think he needs surgery but it is just to manage the pain in his groin. We have decided to be a little bit conservative with him."
Palmer, who left the pitch in the first half in the defeat to Manchester United in the previous week, will be hoping to have a speedy recovery. Chelsea, who have huge clashes upcoming against Brighton and Liverpool in the Premier League and Jose Mourinho’s Benfica in the UEFA Champions League coming up, will be hoping to produce some amazing performances in the 23-year-old’s absence.
