On Sunday night, Liga MX Apertura 2025 saw Tijuana de Caliente draw 2-2 with Monterrey at the Estadio Caliente. With the two clubs who remain in tough contention to seal the playoffs berth, saw them fight for the two points, but finished the game in a 2-2 draw.
While the Monterrey side, who were coming from a recent defeat to Toluca and a win over Santos Laguna, saw them put a tough fight, by Club Tijuana, who were fresh off a 2-0 win over Cruz Azul were hoping to go higher in the standings with a win on Sunday. As the whistle blew, the two sides began with strong defense and an early momentum gave the home side a goal in the starting minutes.

Frank Boya sent the fans into a frenzy with first goal of the night in just 12 minutes. While the atmosphere
at the Estadio Caliente got more intense and right wing back Ricardo Chavez of Monterrey was rushed off the field with an injury, bringing in concerns in the camp. But as the halftime neared, Oliver Torres brought up a cross into the box to level the scores 1-1.
Early in the second half, Tijuana regained the lead, thanks to Cameroonian striker Mourad El Ghezounai, but Monterrey’s grit resulted in a late equaliser, leveling the scores once again. Despite an extended time into the match, both teams saw the game end in a draw.
Monterrey, who are placed third in the standings with 26 points to their name in 12 matches, will next take on Pumas UNAM on October 19 whereas Club Tijuana, who are sixth in the Liga MX 2025, will play Puebla on October 18.
