Top-order batter Prithvi Shaw is one of those cricketers, who got a great start to his international career but couldn’t continue the momentum in the later years. From being the Under-19 World Cup winning
captain, to scoring a hundred on his Test debut, Shaw was looked at the next big name in Indian cricket, but poor run of form along with a cloud of controversies just turned his career the other side. Regardless, Prithvi Shaw is celebrating his 26th birthday on November 9, 2025.
Having led the Indian side to Under-19 World Cup triumph in 2018 at the age of 18, he soon came into the IPL circuit as he was brought by Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals) for INR 1.2 Crore. While there was no looking back for young Shaw then as a few months later, he made his Test debut for India in a match against West Indies in Rajkot. The 18-year-old made it memorable by scoring 134 runs in his maiden Test innings, and became the second youngest Indian batter after Sachin Tendulkar to score a hundred in Test cricket.

Apart from his maiden century, Prithvi Shaw has also scored two fifties in his Test career. The right-hander has played five Test matches in his career so far, scoring 339 runs at an average of 42.37. However, he hasn’t been playing red-ball cricket for India since December 2020, he has featured in six ODIs, amassing 189 runs, and just one T20I.
