Team India’s tour of Australia is underway with the three-match ODI series going the home side’s way while the world champions will aim to claim avenge the loss with a victory in the T20I series, set to be
played from October 29 till November 8. While the two sides will lock horns in the T20I series opener at the Manuka Oval in Canberra, the Indian cricket team is also sweating on the fitness of Shreyas Iyer .
Notably, the Indian batter and deputy to Shubman Gill in the ODIs, Shreyas Iyer sustained a horrific injury to his rib cage while attempting a catch of Alex Carey in the third ODI in Sydney. However, Iyer caught hold of a stunner, he injured his rib and spleen in the process and was rushed to the hospital. Although, the Indian batter is out of danger as he is on the road of recovery, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) shared a big update around Iyer.
Shreyas is on the road to recovery : BCCI confirms in recent update
In a statement released on Tuesday, October 28, the BCCI confirmed that Iyer is out of the ICU but remains under observation as he recovers. “ Shreyas Iyer sustained a blunt injury to his abdomen, resulting in a laceration of his spleen with internal bleeding on 25th October during the third ODI against Australia ,” the statement began.
“ The injury was promptly identified, and the bleeding was immediately arrested. His condition is now stable, and he continues to be under observation. A repeat scan done on Tuesday, 28th October, has shown significant improvement, and Shreyas is on the road to recovery. The BCCI Medical Team, in consultation with specialists in Sydney and India, will continue to monitor his progress ,” it further added.
