Almost three are left before the next edition of the T20 World Cup scheduled to be jointly hosted by India and Sri Lanka in February-March 2026. However, theICC is yet to finalize the venues and the dates
for the upcoming tournament. As per the reports by the Times of India, a total of five Indian cities have shortlisted for the upcoming T20 World Cup including the likes of Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, Chennai, and Ahmedabad.
The final of the T20 World Cup 2026 is likely to be played at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. However, the dates are yet to be finalized for the mega event in India and Sri Lanka. For the Sri Lanka leg, R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo is expected to host matches of the 2026 T20 World Cup.
ICC to officially announce the 2026 T20 World Cup schedule soon
As these are only the rumours and reports, the ICC is expected to announce the official schedule for the 2026 T20 World Cup soon. This will be the second time that India will host a T20 World Cup event. The last time India hosted this tournament was in 2016. In that edition, Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Nagpur, Mohali, Dharamsala and Bengaluru hosted the games with the final being played at Eden Gardens in Kolkata. The semi-final matches were hosted by Delhi and Mumbai.
Talking about the 2023 ODI World Cup in India, the matches were played in cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Ahmedabad, Pune, Dharamsala, Lucknow and Bengaluru. The semi-final clashes were hosted by Kolkata and Mumbai while the final took place at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Now, the world’s largest cricket stadium in term of capacity is expected to host another final of an ICC event.
