In a dramatic event, West Indies’ batter Rahkeem Cornwall escaped a gruesome injury during the Eliminator match of the National Cricket League(NCL) 2025 between Atlanta Kings CC and Los Angeles Waves CC at University
of Texas, Dallas on Sunday, October 12. During the match, Waves bowler Rumman Raees was bowling to Cornwall while the Kings were chasing a target of 97 runs in 10 overs.
However, while bowling to Cornwall, Raees bowled a sharp bouncer that smashed into the helmet grill of Atlanta Kings batter. However, the ball got stuck between the helmet bars as Rahkeem Cornwall escaped a big injury during the match. After that, the Los Angeles Waves CC fielders also came to check Cornwall and took the ball out of his helmet. Eventually, Cornwall got out after scoring 17 runs off 14 balls.
Los Angeles Waves advance into the final of National Cricket League 2025
Talking about the match, Los Angeles Waves came out victorious against Atlanta Kings in the Eliminator of the NCL 2025 by 34 runs. For the Waves, skipper George Munsey turned out to be the top scorer with a quickfire 40 runs off just 16 balls as they posted 96/7 in their 10 overs. In reply, Atlanta Kings could only post 62 runs for the loss of nine wickets as Los Angeles made it to the qualifier two.
In the qualifier two, Los Angeles Waves defeated Houston Generals CC by 32 runs to qualify for the final of the National Cricket League 2025. Skipper George Munsey turned out to be the top scorer again with his 32(11) as the Waves posted 105/6 in 10 overs. In 10 overs, Generals were restricted to 73/7 as Los Angeles registered another convincing win. Now, they will face Dallas Lonestars CC in the final on October 14.
