Ruturaj Gaikwad won several hearts with his gesture after Maharashtra’s 144-run win over Chandigarh in Ranji Trophy 2025 fixture at Sector 16 Cricket Stadium in Chandigarh. The star batter won Player of the match for his match-winning performance against Chandigarh playing a crucial role in Maharashtra’s victory with the scores of 116 and 36*. However, Gaikwad decided to share his POTM award with his teammate Prithvi Shaw who scored a double ton in the second innings.
Talking about the match, Maharashtra gave Chandigarh a mammoth target of 464 runs to win. In reply, Chandigarh were bowled out for 319 runs on day four. After the match, Gaikwad was awarded with the Player of the match award. However, Gaikwad decided to share his award with Prithvi
Shaw in the post-match presentation.

Prithvi Shaw smashes 222 runs in 2nd innings bs Chandigarh
Prithvi Shaw was a star performer for Maharashtra in the second innings of the match. The right-hander scored 222 runs off just 159 balls in the second innings as Maharashtra posted 359/3 giving Chandigarh a target of 464 runs to win. Shaw smashed 29 fours and five sixes during his knock. Apart from that, Siddhesh Veer also contributed with 62(83) runs while Ruturaj Gaikwad scored an unbeaten on 36*(35) runs.
Chasing the winning target, Arjun Azad turned out to be a top scorer for Chandigarh as he scored 168 runs off 236 balls hitting 17 fours and six sixes. Skipper Manan Vohra also scored 58* runs while Raj Bawa contributed with 42 runs. Apart from that, none of the other batters could stay at the crease for long as Chandigarh were bowled out for 319 runs. For Maharashtra, Mukesh Chaudhary and Ramakrishna Ghosh took four wickets each.
