Brazilian winger Matheus Cunha, 26, has finally scored his first goal of his Manchester United career during the ongoing Premier League clash against Brighton at Old Trafford. After joining the Red Devils
in the summer from Wolves in a big money move, the Brazilian threatened the goal on numerous occasions during his eight appearances in all competitions but it didn’t happen for him until the tidy finish past goalkeeper Bart Verbuggen.
The big moment for Matheus Cunha happened in the 24th minute after a well crafted move from Manchester United around the box. When Casemiro received the ball at the edge of the box, he found the fellow Brazilian unmarked to his left side before the latter maneuvered the ball and unleashed a sublime hit with his right foot towards his right side, which landed in the six yard box before completely beating the goalkeeper’s outstretched left hand to hit the far post before it landed in the back of the net.

Following a sensational performance against Liverpool away at Anfield last weekend during their 2-1 win in the Premier League, Matheus Cunha was heavily praised by the club fans and the experts but still, the doubts lingered in regards to his empty goal-scoring tally at Manchester United in the regular season. But now, he has managed to put the doubts to rest with an impressive goal against a highly accomplished Brighton side competing regularly for the top half of the table in the league.
He always wants the ball, he's always doing this, he's always doing that: Fernandes on Cunha
Bruno Fernandes, the captain of Manchester United, was all praises of Matheus Cunha in the aftermath of the Liverpool win. He was quoted as saying, as per Goal.com, “When we speak about Cunha, the thing of having the arrogance to say ‘give me the ball, I want to play, I want to make things’. With time, sometimes it won't be good for people because I've been through that. He always wants the ball, he's always doing this, he's always doing that. But for us, on the inside, we want this Cunha. We want you to take the risks, to shoot, to take people on, to create.”
At the half-time stage, Manchester United have a 2-0 lead against Brighton at home with goals from Matheus Cunha and Casemiro as the latter extended the lead in the 34th minute courtesy a huge deflection off the opposition player.
