Romeo Lavia, the Chelsea and Belgium midfielder, is reportedly set to miss at least a month of action due to quadriceps injury. The 21-year-old, who joined Chelsea from Southampton in 2023 for £53m, suffered an injury four minutes into the UEFA Champions League (UCL) tie against Qarabag last week in Baku, Azerbaijan, which ended in a 2-2 draw for them.
Notably, Romeo Lavia has been plagued by fitness issues during his stay at Chelsea and he was only playing his fourth match since returning from injury sustained during the FIFA Club World Cup 2025 in the summer, which the London-based club managed to win. He has played 29 matches in more than two seasons for Chelsea while missing a whopping 88 matches in total for them, failing to play out a full
90 minutes thus far.
Romeo Lavia could miss at least six matches for Chelsea over the next month or so: Report
As per the report published in BBC Sport, Chelsea have given Romeo Lavia only one match a week to play since his arrival in 2023, to manage his fitness. He has suffered injuries to his hamstring and thigh apart from a few unspecified ones, which is why the Blues had implemented a plan to keep his workload in check but it failed to provide them optimum results thus far.
With his current quadriceps injury, Romeo Lavia is expected to not play against Burnley, Arsenal, Leeds United, and Bournemouth in the Premier League apart from the UCL fixtures against Barcelona and Atalanta. Currently, Chelsea are in third place in the Premier League with 20 points in 11 matches while in the UCL, they are positioned in 12th spot with seven points in four matches.
