The T20 world champions, Team India is currently touring Australia for a white-ball series , comprising of three ODIs and five T20Is. While the Men in Blue went down in the ODI leg by 1-2 margin, they
will look to claim the T20I series. However, the first T20I of the five-match series was washed out due to incessant rain in Canberra, the Suryakumar Yadav-led side will look to take an early lead at MCG.
For the unversed, Australian captain Mitchell Marsh won the toss and elected to bowl first. “We are going to bowl first. (Pitch) looks good one, hopefully it won’t change for 40 overs,” Marsh said. On the contrary, the Indian skipper was happy with the decision of being put to bat first, seeing their recent brand of cricket.
Australian and Indian players sport black armbands as tribute to Ben Austin; observe a minute’s silence
As the two teams took the field, they were seen sporting black armbands as a mark of respect for Australian teenage cricketer Ben Austin, who tragically passed away after being struck by a ball in the nets on Tuesday. Moreover, the players of the two sides also stood and observed a minute’s silence for the young cricketer.
It is to be noted that earlier on Thursday, October 30, the Australian and Indian women players also donned black armbands as tribute for Austin in ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 semi-final in Navi Mumbai.
