With the Indian cricket team currently defending their title in the Men’s Asia Cup 2025, underway in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), they will next play West Indies
in a two-match Test series at home. While the series will begin shortly after the conclusion of the continental tournament, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will have their eyes set on players as they are yet to announce the squad for the Test series.Recently, the BCCI Secretary, Devajit Saikia revealed the date of the squad announcement for the upcoming series, which involves two Tests, which will be played from October 2 and 10 in Ahmedabad and Delhi respectively.
India squad for West Indies Tests to be announced on September 23-24; confirms Devajit Saikia
Speaking after filing the nomination for BCCI President, Saikia confirmed the date of squad announcement.
“Selection for the Indian Test team for the upcoming Test series against West Indies will be done on Sept 23 or 24 ….. selection meeting will be online,” BCCI Secretary told reporters at the BCCI headquarters on Sunday, September 21. As far as the squad announcement is concerned, wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant is set to miss the series as he continues his rehabilitation. Furthermore, a few reports also suggest that KL Rahul is speculated to lead the side with Gill being rested.
While India are yet to name their squad, West Indies last week announced their 15-member squad for the upcoming series. While Roston Chase will lead the side, Jomel Warrican has been named as his deputy.
