With the Bangladesh women’s cricket team set to tour India for a white-ball series comprising of three ODIs and as many T20Is in December 2025, reports close to the development have informed that the tour stands
currently postponed amid the ongoing political tensions between the neighbouring nations. With the tour part of the ICC Future Tours Programme, with escalating tensions the series reportedly has been pushed back.
While an official confirmation of the same is still awaited, it comes after a recent ruling by the Dhaka tribunal which issued death sentence to former Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in absentia for crimes against humanity. However, the United Nations on Monday, November 17 described the conviction of Bangladesh’s former Prime Minister as “an important moment” while firmly reiterating its universal opposition to the death penalty.
BCCI postpones homes series against Bangladesh Women; looks to arrange new dates
In what comes as a fallout, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has reportedly decided to postpone the home series. According to reports, Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has received official communication from the BCCI confirming that the white-ball series will be rescheduled. While neither board has publicly clarified the reason for the postponement.
“We (BCB) have received a letter from the BCCI regarding the cancellation of the series and now we are waiting to hear new dates or details, a Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) official told PTI. Notably, the series was India’s first set to matches after lifting the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 earlier this month.
