Team India led by Dinesh Karthik registered a thrilling win over arch-rivals Pakistan by just two runs as the DLS method in their opening match of the 2025 Hong Kong Sixes at Tin Kwong Road Recreation
Ground in Mong Kok on November 7. For India, Robin Uthappa, Bharat Chipli and Dinesh Karthik turned out to be star performers with their quickfire knocks as they posted 86/4 in their six overs.
After that, Pakistan were given a target of 44 runs in three overs after the rain played a spoilsport. In reply, Pakistan could only reach 41/1 in their 18 balls as India clinched a thrilling victory. Fast bowler Stuart Binny took the only wicket for India.
Robin Uthappa scored 28(11), becomes player of the match
Coming to bat after losing the toss, India got a flying start as Robin Uthappa and Bharat Chipli put up an opening partnership of 42 runs in just 2.3 overs. Uthappa turned out to be a top scorer with his quickfire knock of 28 runs off just 11 balls hitting two fours and three sixes, while Chipli scored 24(13) runs hitting two fours and two sixes. In the end, skipper Dinesh Karthik gave finishing touches with a quickfire 17*(6) as India posted 86/4 in their six overs. For Pakistan, Muhammad Shahzad took two wickets while Abdul Samad put one in his bag.
After India’s innings, the rain took charge and Pakistan now required 44 runs to win in just three overs. Chasing the winning target, Pakistan lost their first in the second over at the score 24 runs as Maaz Sadaqat smashed 7(3) before losing his wicket to Stuart Binny. After that, Khawaja Nafay and Abdul Samad batted till the end but could only scored 41 runs losing the game by two runs. Robin Uthappa was awarded Player of the Match for his quickfire knock.
