On Sunday, October 5, India Women continued their winning run in the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025, underway in India and Sri Lanka. Coming into the match after registering a comfortable 59-run win over
co-hosts via DLS method, the Women in Blue registered a convincing 88-run win over Pakistan Women to secure the top spot in points table.
Moreover the win for the Harmanpreet Kaur-led side was 12th straight win against arch-rivals, continuing their unbeaten streak. While they will hope to continue their winning momentum when they return to India for next few games, middle-order batter Jemimah Rodrigues shared beautiful message as they eye to get hands on their maiden Women’s CWC title.

Speaking in a post-match interview with the broadcasters, Jemimah opined that the team want to win the World Cup for the veterans as well as the pioneers of Indian cricket. “Yeah, I mean, first it was Mithu di (Mithali Raj) and Julhu di (Jhulan Goswami). I remember when I entered the team, they were like the senior-most, just to see that transition now, where Harmanpreet was still way more senior. But Harry di (Harmanpreet) and Smriti working together as captain, vice captain, getting this team together. And we have created such an environment that everyone will go out there and give their lives out,” Jemimah began.
She further went on to add, “We want to do it also for them, not just for Smriti and Harry di, but for Mithu di, for Jhulu di, for Neetu David ma'am, for all those people who have brought women's cricket to where it is today. We want to win it for them.”
While the Indian batter continues to up her game after a duck in the first game, she scored 32 off 37 deliveries on Sunday in Colombo against Pakistan Women. As the Women in Blue will return to India for their rest of the campaign, they will next take on South Africa Women at the Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam on October 9.
